Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of BarTap as a patron. By buying or spending tokens, you agree to them. If you are a venue owner, your relationship with BarTap is governed by the separate Venue Terms & Conditions.

1. What BarTap Is

BarTap lets you spend tokens to change the channel on a TV at a participating bar or venue. Tokens are prepaid digital credits, not money, not a stored-value/gift card, and have no cash value. They can only be used inside BarTap at participating venues.

2. Buying Tokens

• Token purchases are processed securely by Stripe. We never store your card details.
• Prices and token-package sizes are shown before you pay and may change at any time.
• The cost to change a channel is shown before you confirm, and may rise with demand (surge) or while a channel is in a cooldown/locked period.
• Tokens are credited to your account after your payment completes.

3. Refund Policy

Purchased tokens are non-refundable except as required by law or as described here:

• Failed channel change: if you spend tokens to change a channel and the change does not happen (for example, the venue's equipment is offline), the tokens for that change are automatically returned to your balance.
• Bar / staff override: a bar, venue, or its owner or staff can override, reverse, or change any channel change at any time and for any reason. If they override a change you paid for while it is still within its locked window, those tokens are returned to your balance.
• Completed channel changes are final. Tokens already spent on a change that took place are not refundable.
• Tokens do not expire while your account is active. If a venue stops using BarTap, your remaining tokens stay usable at other participating venues.

4. Channel Changes & House Rules

• Changing a channel is a request to the venue's system, not a guarantee. Availability of channels, audio, and specific TVs is set by the venue.
• Venues may lock TVs, reserve screens, restrict certain channels, or disable patron control entirely — especially during big games or private events.
• A bar can override your change at any time, for any reason. The bar, venue, or its owner or staff may override, reverse, or change any channel you select — even immediately after you pay — at their sole discretion. BarTap takes no responsibility for, and is not liable for, any such override or for the content shown on the venue's TVs.
• The venue's staff have final say over what plays on their TVs at all times.
• Use BarTap respectfully. Don't use it to harass other patrons or disrupt the venue.

5. Accounts

You verify your account with your phone number via a one-time SMS code. You are responsible for activity on your account. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data.

6. Disclaimers & Liability

BarTap is provided “as is.” We are not responsible for venue equipment, channel availability, broadcast content, disputes between patrons, or any decision by a bar, venue, owner, or staff to override, reverse, or change a channel you selected — which they may do at any time and for any reason. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BarTap's total liability for any claim relating to your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the tokens at issue.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of BarTap after an update means you accept the revised terms.
