SMS Alerts & Opt-In

Program summary
BarTap sends optional SMS alerts so signed-in patrons can get a text when a nearby BarTap-enabled bar is showing a game for one of their favorite teams. Messages are never required to use the core product. Opt-in is express, default OFF, and can be revoked anytime by replying STOP.
What messages we send
- Account verification (transactional) — one-time codes when you sign in with your phone number.
- Favorite-team game alerts (marketing / alerts) — only after you explicitly opt in. Example:Los Angeles Lakers is on at Murphys — Sat 7 PM. Catch it on BarTap: https://bartap.app/map Reply STOP to opt out.
- Optional transactional notices related to bidding (for example outbid / refund notices) only for opted-in users where enabled.
How to opt in (express consent)
- Open the BarTap map at bartap.app/map.
- Sign in with your phone number (OTP verification).
- Open the favorite-teams picker (“Your teams”).
- Turn ON the toggle labeled:“Text me when my teams are on — one text when a nearby bar has your team's game. Reply STOP anytime.”
The toggle is OFF by default. Enabling it is the express written opt-in. We record a consent timestamp on your account. No marketing alert SMS is sent unless this toggle is on.
Frequency
Alert volume is low. Marketing/game-alert SMS is capped at 3 messages per 7 days per user, enforced in our systems. Many users will receive 0–1 messages in a typical week.
Opt out / HELP
- Reply STOP (or STOPALL / UNSUBSCRIBE / CANCEL / END / QUIT) to opt out immediately.
- Reply HELP or INFO for program info.
- You can also turn the in-app toggle OFF at any time after signing in.
